A proud Wollongong local, Dr Arun Thangavel founded Southern Dental Specialists & Implant Centre to bring world-class specialist dental care home to the Illawarra. As principal prosthodontist and owner, he has built a state-of-the-art practice dedicated to prosthodontics and dental implant treatment, so patients no longer need to travel to Sydney for complex specialist care.
Dr Thangavel graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 2006, before completing his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry, specialising in Prosthodontics, at the University of Sydney. He went on to work as a staff specialist at Westmead, where he managed a wide range of complex dental cases and was actively involved in teaching and mentoring dental students.
With significant experience and deep technical knowledge in managing complex restorative cases, Dr Arun is recognised as a leader in the Illawarra for prosthodontics and dental implant treatment. He is best known, among both his patients and the dental professionals who refer to him, for his passion for excellence and his meticulous attention to detail.
