A prosthodontist is a type of dental specialist that specialises in the reconstruction and restoration of broken or missing teeth for function and aesthetics. A prosthodontist must undertake an additional three years of advanced University training in complex dental rehabilitation beyond undergraduate dental studies to become a board certified Prosthodontic Specialist. This type of dental specialist can manage dental issues such as severely broken down teeth, terminal teeth, missing teeth, bite issues and bruxism. General dentists will typically refer their more complex cases to a prosthodontist.
Our specialist consultation fee is $350 for every patient, including any x-rays and photos taken on the day.
Treatment costs beyond the consultation vary from case to case, since every treatment plan is tailored to the individual. During your consultation we'll walk you through your options and provide an estimate of the costs involved.
At Southern Dental Specialist & Implant Centre, we are 100% transparent and all-inclusive, with no hidden fees. For an indicative guide by procedure, such as veneers and dental implants cost, see our treatments page.
Yes, we offer flexible payment plans through two trusted providers so you can spread the cost of your treatment into manageable instalments.

We certainly can. Over the years, we’ve seen and treated many anxious and dental-phobic patients so we understand how distressing the thought of dental work can be. But the good news is that we’ve also got a number of tried and tested methods for easing your anxiety and making your treatment as smooth as possible.
At Southern Dental Specialists & Implant Centre, we offer a few different types of sedation, including IV sedation, which can help you feel much more calm and comfortable during your treatment. Plus, we’ve also got dedicated sedation recovery rooms where you can relax after your procedure.
No, you do not need a referral to book in your initial consultation with us and all patients are welcome. We’re always happy to sit down for a chat with you about your needs and how we can get you on your way to the smile you deserve.
Your initial consultation takes around an hour. We'll start with a friendly conversation about your dental history and goals, then complete a comprehensive examination and take high-resolution photos of your teeth (along with 3D x-rays or CT scans if needed).
From there, we'll walk you through your treatment options and put together a personalised plan with every cost clearly outlined.
Before your appointment: bring your referral if you have one, and let us know in advance if you've had oral x-rays in the last 12 months so we can have them sent across.
